June Room 1 Student Reflection.

It's the end of June so our class had to reflect on June and tell us our favourite memories of the month and other subjects we had been doing and improving in. I want to improve in my maths, mostly my times tables and division.
We have been learning to reflect on every month that comes and goes.
I enjoy writing about these reflections because it's fun to recap on what you have been learning.
I found nothing challenging cause all we had to do was tell us what we wanna improve in and what we did in reading and more.
I found it easy to fill out all of the textboxes with all my learning that I have been doing.

Pattern Ball - P.E

Pattern Ball.
We are learning to communicate with each other in teams and work together.
We start off with a pink netball and make our pattern and we aren't allowed to throw to the person next to us. Only in front or diagonal. Then if we are doing good with our pattern we get a soccer ball and throw like you would throw a handball and make it bounce, Same with the 3rd ball. You get a rugby ball and do a rugby pass to your partner. We have been trying different poses as well such ad a chest pass for the netball and a bounce for the soccer ball and lucky last the rugby pass by your hip and throw it while your on your side.
To communicate we had to call names, make eye contact with the person we throw to and the person who throws to us, be ready and only keep your eye on your group no one else's. don't look around or else when the person throws to you and your not looking you may get hurt.
What my group had found easy was starting off with the netball and keep on going and going with different balls. What our group found hard was to remember the different throws not only do one throw all the times and make the video and along with that we kept on forgetting to check if everyone was in the screen. We screencastify our video using screencastify with the webcam option. What my group could do differently next time is try not to argue and keep on going without arguing and maybe we can challenge ourselves to no dropping the ball.

Matariki - Explanation - Should it be a public holiday?

Yesterday we were learning to use more visual language and identify ideas and explain or events in a different religion.
I enjoyed writing about and learning about Matariki cause learning about different celebrations in different religions is interesting to learn.
I found nothing challenging cause I had gathered a lot of information about Matariki before writing.
My digital learning object shows I am learning about lots of other celebrations in different religions or countries.
Next time I would put it on a google drawing or a google slide to make it more vibrant and pretty.

Matariki
What is Matariki?
Matariki is a celebration that Maori have created, 9 stars appear in the dawn daylight and night time. Matariki is a family celebration which needs to be a public holiday so families can celebrate it together. That explains that Matariki is just a cluster of stars of different things they do - all of the sisters are..
Matariki who is the mother of all of them,
Pōhutukawa
who is connected to the ones who have died,
Waitī who is connected to the freshwater of the dead bodies and food,
Waitā is connected the ocean and the food that comes from the oceans,
Waipuna-ā-Rangi is connected with the rain, hail or the spitting rain,
Tupuānuku
is connected with everything that comes from soil or underground like Kumara or veggies for food,
Tupuarangi is connected to everything that grows in trees or belongs in trees like different singing birds or wild berries or fruits,
Ururangi is connected to the strong, rough or soft winds and lucky last..
Hiwa-i-te-Rangi is connected to every wish someone grants on that day and it may come true.

Public Holiday?
Matariki isn't known as a public holiday so far but Jacinda Ardern our prime minister AND the government is thinking about turning it into a public holiday.

My own thoughts.
In my own thoughts on whether it should be a holiday or not, my thoughts are telling me it should be a public holiday and I do agree. Why I agree with this is cause families can make a wish together for one another or watch the stars together so no one misses out on a special moment their religion, Maori has come. Matariki is also a day where people remember their loved ones that have passed on.
In June/July. A scientist named Dr Matamua actually experienced and saw all the 9 stars.

Who is Dr Matamua?
Did you also know that Matariki’s date changes sometimes, Matariki actually disappeared in April/May. Dr Matamua was actually an astronomer who studied stars and with stuff related to astronomy, He soon then tried to look at the Matariki stars and soon found them.

Legends.
Ranginui, the sky father and Papatuanuku, the earth mother were separated by the God of the winds, Tawhirimatea then Ranginui became really angry sometimes and teared his eyes out and threw them in the sky.

Conclusion for the explanation.

Basically Matariki is a time for Maori people to celebrate the stars and cut your crops. All of the sisters come mostly on the 5th of July in the dawn daylight.

Matariki - Should it be a public holiday?

Today we were learning to identify the main idea of the story and evaluate ideas.
I enjoyed writing about one of my team members response and happy most people had agreed with me.
I found nothing challenging because it was a simple and fun task.
My digital learning object shows I can identify the main idea of the texts and stories.
Next time I would make another celebration in a different country.

Summer Learning Journey Prize.

Last year I had done the Summer Learning Journey in Room 2.
I enjoyed doing it cause it pasted time and not only was it fun it had leaded me to information I never knew about.
Sometimes I found it hard to understand some of the challenges but I would work them out soon enough!
I got a certificate some months ago for getting 1st in the blogging. I had won so JBL headphones that I still love to this day. I was happy that I completed 60 blog posts in the holidays and did 3 each day.
I got a badge to put on my blog, Here it is:
