Hello Manvi,
ReplyDeleteCalculating in your head - great idea. How did you do it?
I usually do a check when I think I have the answer by adding the numbers: 85 + 25 =
Then I see if I get the number I am expecting. Do you?

Kia Ora Manvi,
ReplyDeleteYou did such a great job calculating the age of Doctor Rodgers when she received her NAIDOC award! 25 was the correct answer, but it would be great if you could work out the months and days as well! Here is how I did it!
I found the difference between 1985 and 2000 (15 years) which is a very good place to start, and then I added the additional 10 years on top (25 years).
The difference between the 7th of April 2010 and the 9th of July 2010 was a bit trickier to figure out!
If you work out how many months are between those 2 dates then it will be easy! There are 3 months between the 7th of April and the 7th of July, this means that there are only 2 more extra days to bring the date upto the 9th of July!
This brings the answer to a grand total of 25years, 3 months and 2 days.
Do you enjoy mathematics? What is your favourite subject at school? My favourite subjects were always mathematics and design!
