My favourite book Summer Learning Journey:

My Favourite Book is......."Smile!" By Raina Telegmier .
Picture:
Review Or Summary: Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. But one night after Girls Scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth. What follows is a long and frustrating journey with on-again, off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. And on top of all that, there's still more to deal with: a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends who turn out to be not so friendly. Raina's story takes us from middle school to high school, where she discovers her artistic voice, find out what true friendship really means, and where she can finally ... smile.

  1. Kia ora Manvi,
I have just returned from my holiday and see all the posts you have published for the Summer Learning Journey! What an achievement!

You have summarised this book very clearly and I can see why it is titled "Smile". What did you use to design your book cover with?

What do you think true friendship means?

  2. Kia Ora Manvi,

The book ‘Smile’ sounds like a very heart-warming and exciting book! You gave such a great description of the book, and it left me wanting more. I might have to look for this book at the library next time I am there!

Do you read many books? What is you favourite genre of books? I really enjoy reading adventure books - I find them so exciting! One of my favourite books series is the Harry Potter series. Have your read them before?

Keep up the great posting! I am really enjoyed reading your posts and I am delighted that you are keeping up with the SLJ program!
